Here you can find a tool which allows us to install previous firmware versions to our Sony bluetooth headphones/earbuds.
Please read the guide carefully!
2023-07-12 - Added a more recent version of the Headphones app, that will work with MDR Proxy if the instructions are correctly followed (just updated my WF-1000XM4 to the Japanese version of the firmware, using option #3, "Install a certain firmware").
2023-02-28 - MDR Proxy stopped working after the last update. It's been fixed now.
2023-02-11 - Added the latest Headphones app (9.3.0).
2022-12-09 - Added the 1.6.1 firmware version for WF-1000XM4 to the firmware library.
it would be great if you could make a custom firmware for the new sony players...
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I can't afford one, and also there's no root access yet for these new players.
DeleteIs there any way you can add firmware 1.5.0 to wf-1000xm4?
ReplyDeleteHey mrwalkman, you made a mistake with the mdr proxy latest version, if I take the chinese .js file and copy the entire "const infoXML" over then I can finally update, alse it wont trigger an update in the app. the difference in inthe files and you are using http instead of https. Probly why so many are complaining, and not their pc settings.
ReplyDeleteI didn't change anything related to the MDR Proxy .js.
DeleteI'll look into what's wrong, but it's the same as before.
There was something wrong, it's been fixed. Redownload the tool.
DeleteCan we flash new firmware 2.1.3 for LinkBuds series? I tried to send firmware through Headphones 9.3.0 app but it wont trigger an update in the app.
ReplyDeleteThere was something wrong, it's been fixed. Redownload the tool.
DeleteYes, now update triggers in the Headphones 9.3.0 app but at the end update fails for WF-L900 firmware 2.1.3.
DeleteFrom the MDR Proxy page on this blog:
Delete"After the update finished, the Headphones app will say that it failed, but you can check the firmware version by tapping the three dots in the upper-right corner, and then "MODEL Version" (like "WF-1000XM4 Version")."
Yes, thanks. Firmware update passed although it says update faild.
Deletewhen the 2.0.0 firmware is on the mdr proxy
ReplyDeleteIt already is.
DeleteI used the tool to downgrade from 2.0.0 to 1.3.3,I had one bud replaced due to the battery issue but after downgrade everytime I activate the touch control the voice assistant says "bluetooth device 2 replaced" this didnt happen prior to the downgrade.Any solution?
ReplyDeleteedit:I have wf-1000xm4
DeleteWe are not meant to downgrade anyway, so issues like this may appear. Try to reset the buds.
Deleteupdate:tried reseting and updating to all firmwares from 1.26 to 1.61,issue was still there.Solved by updating back to 2.0.0
DeleteTry resetting by opening and closing the lid of the charging case more than 5 times within 20 seconds, while the buds are in the case.
DeleteThe indicator (red) of the charging case starts flashing. When the resetting is complete, the indicator (green) of the charging case flashes 4 times.

DeleteHow you sucsess downgrade fw from 2.0 to 1.3.3 for wfxm4 .?
resetting can not solve the issue, only by resetting the language(voice) from your language into another language and rechanging it into your language can the issue be solved.
ReplyDeleteonly after you have downgraded the firmware
ReplyDeleteSince you have modified the apk for wf-1000xm4, can I again re-install the app from the play store and check the firmware version? or my earbuds won't work?

ReplyDeleteCan't install the modified apk, I'm still running Anroid 8.1 Oreo. Getting error regarding UID mismatch. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
