The last official firmware update for NW-A40Series is 1.10, released in 2017. The firmware on this page is a port of the NW-A50Series latest stock firmware (1.02) to the NW-A40Series.
- BT Receiver function - allows streaming music to the A40 via Bluetooth;
- Vinyl Processor DSP option;
- DSEE HX now uses AI to accurately analyze song type, instrumentation and musical genres;
- smoother interface operation.
Added feature:
- progressive JPEG and interlaced PNG album covers will now show up as intended.

How to install this?
Install this firmware like any other official firmware update from Sony.
If you are currently using a modified firmware version, you will first need to revert back to the stock firmware (please refer to the instructions for the installed firmware).
Connect the player to the PC via the USB cable, enable the Mass Storage mode, and then execute the installer.
How to uninstall this?
If you wish to return to the stock 1.10 official firmware for A40, just go on and install it. That's it.

ReplyDeleteHey, this works like any other stock firmware, so you don't have to do something in particular if you want to install A40 FEv2 afterwards.
DeleteHi...I have the WM1Z and tuning installed on my A45. Can I install this MRW 08.02 this over top to get my Radio back or do I have to revert everything back to stock and just install the A50 firmware for A45.....I'm in Canada

Try disabling the Battery Care option, then discharging the battery completely, and then letting it completely charge without using the player. This should help with the calibration of the battery's capacity.

ReplyDeleteI don't know what to say about this. Of course it also depends what types of files you are playing like MP3 vs FLAC, or if you're using DSP settings or not, but other than that I have no idea.
lost radio fm function?

ReplyDeleteI got the jpn NW-A45 and installed the unofficial firmware to make it like the NW-A55 series. My unit is still in JPN language so not sure where to go to change language to English?

I tried the Walkman One firmware, which fixed the artworks but i dont know why i preferred the ClearAudio+ and was nice to have the radio. Using this A50 version is perfect for what i wanted.
